Applying to Grad School (in Linguistics)
About The Handbook
This is a handbook project I started back in 2003 when it became apparent that there was far too little help available for students in the Harvard Linguistics Department who were interested in going on to grad school. I hope future students will keep it updated!
Because the handbook was compiled specifically for Harvard linguistics students, and because I'm paranoid about this thing ending up in The Wrong Hands, I'm trying to limit access to it, somewhat. So, I've devised a lame user name and password scheme: the user is the linguistics building, the password is the professor whose office used to be the library.
If you're a Harvard student, you should be able to enter the correct username and password. If you're not a Harvard student, you can still have this document, but you'll need to email me and ask for it!
Download the Handbook in PDF format (Version 1.2)
Download the Handbook in TeX format (only if you want to modify it)
If you do modify this document, please send me a copy and I'll put the new version up on the website. Thanks!
